Aleister Crowley and the Hidden God explores Crowley’s spiritual intent to liberate human beings from inner limitations by teaching them how to awaken their innate “Hidden God” — the dormant creative and spiritual force within. To achieve this transformation, Crowley’s practices made extensive use of sexual energies, which he believed were the most powerful yet potentially misleading forces in human life if misunderstood.

This book offers a detailed and analytical examination of Crowley’s system of sexual magick and the unusual rituals he both practiced and promoted to further the Thelemic Law of Freedom, expressed through the maxim “Love under Will.”

Grant discusses how the “Fire Snake” or Kundalini-Goddess, understood as a cosmic spiritual energy within humans, can be psychically aroused through magical techniques. When awakened, this force takes on an external symbolic form that Crowley called the Scarlet Woman — a figure who interacts with deep psychic centres in the body and serves to evoke the Hidden God.

In addition, the book describes a method of dream control using what Grant calls the Ophidian Current, a stream of esoteric transmission linked to Crowley and other occult figures such as Austin Osman Spare, Dion Fortune, and others. This method is intended to facilitate contact with non-human and extra-terrestrial intelligences and ultimately help practitioners move beyond the limits of personality to achieve cosmic consciousness — a state aligned with the goals of the New Aeon as defined in Thelemic thought.
