In this book, Grant explores a mysterious region he calls the Mauve Zone — a zone that lies “oblique to the paths” leading to other dimensions and beyond ordinary consciousness. Over the centuries, mystics, magicians, artists, and other explorers have encountered this realm, often describing it in symbolic or artistic terms because direct accounts have been rare and difficult to communicate.

Recent occult systems developed by figures like Austin Osman Spare and Aleister Crowley are discussed as having helped open access to this zone. According to Grant, these systems used sexual magick to unlock hidden gateways that had remained closed for long periods, allowing contact with inter-dimensional intelligences possessing trans-human knowledge and power.

The book also references the work of contemporary practitioners such as Michael Bertiaux, Margaret Ingalls (Nema), Jeffrey and Ruth Evans, and Zivorad Mihaljovic, portraying them as leading modern explorers of these realms.

A significant section of the work is devoted to the Cosmic Energy within humanity, known in ancient traditions as the Fire Snake or the Kundalini — an energy that Grant suggests must be awakened before deeper access to the Mauve Zone can be successfully achieved. This discussion draws on rare Tantric sources that provide keys and magico-mystical formulae for transcending the Mauve Zone.
