Gullveig is remembered as the dark crone of the underworld — a giantess bound to the black runes and the mysteries of anti-cosmic magic. Rising from beneath the earth at midnight, she wanders between houses to visit practitioners of the forbidden arts (the fjölkunnigr), teaching them the runes of dissolution and the paths of shadowed sorcery. Wife or mistress of Loki, she bears many names: Gullveig, Heiðr, Aurboða, Angrboða, and Hyrrokin. Reviled in the sagas as an illr kona (“evil woman”), she is also the mother of trolls (flagð), the monstrous kin of chaos dwelling in forests, mountains, and the abyss.

This book follows Gullveig through Old Norse mythology, sagas, witchcraft, and poetry, tracing her connections to giants, gods, and the realms of the underworld — Loki, Jörmungandr, Fenrir, Hel, as well as Jötunheimr, Helheimr, Niflheimr, and beyond.

Gullveigarbók provides readers with a rare exploration of the darker side of Norse tradition — an essential study for those seeking hidden knowledge within Northern spirituality.

The latter half of the work, Fjølkyngi (“Witchcraft”), delves into the esoteric practice of the author’s own Thursatru Tradition (Þursatrú siðr). Here, the magical workings of Gullveig are unveiled, alongside teachings on the use of her sigils and bindrunes.
